Very Disappointing
The song selection was the really disappointing part. Jackson quickly acknowledged his ill voice and that it was hurting. He and David opened with a promising Warren Zevon song, but then chose the obscure "Seminole Bingo". Perhaps something more familiar would have been better, given their friendship with Warren. He played only ONE of his own songs in the first 90 minutes, For Everyman. After leaving David Lindley to play 2 songs on his own, he took a 30 minute break. Upon returning, he graciously thanked everyone for staying and talked about playing songs he could handle with his ill voice, which was well respected. However, the first three songs with the band were newer and more obscure, which was not appreciated by many. We left before the end. I was very excited to see him and David together, having first seen them at Tanglewood 30 years ago. Clearly he still has the goods, but they were not on display that night. With his vocal difficulties, one would think he would mix in newer material with old favorites, but he did not. It was a very bad choice of material from a very good artist. I am very disappointed in the show overall.
